THE EIGHT HORSE / 1994 / oil on canvas / 24" x 36" SOLD... Read a painting comment below...
When I did this painting, “The Eight Horse” represented
the race that I was running. The gate I left behind was the world of
paychecks I could count on, and the gamble I was taking was that I could
make a living as a painter without losing my ideals.
In this painting, “The Eight Horse” comes up on the outside, and it seems I have a shot at winning. But the viewer and I will never know, and in reality it doesn't matter. Because rather than being a famous artist or even doing well, the best that I have ever hoped for is to make enough money to keep on painting. In this daunting task, I would be perfectly happy to place or come in third.
